Why libraries are more important than ever before: The case of Miami Public Libraries
“Free is not good”. It’s not worsted to have some great things for free, is better to pay for it. This axiom has been the way our American society have been thinking for many many years. Even in private or public. Nowadays, maybe this axiom will start to change, maybe.
One of the topics that have been in great debate today refers to the libraries. Some people inside the USA started to consider that the libraries are not needed anymore. Others consider a librarian like a person that needs to know everything about everything. Parents, professors, students and more people are in favor to regulate certain libraries, other groups are defending the right of the libraries to exist today.
I have been a librarian for over 22 years. I became a librarian in Cuba. I went to Technical School first and after to the University of Havana for a 5 years degree. Why I decided to become a librarian? for two simple reasons: 1) My parents, when I was a kids, instilled in my the love for books; 2) When I was 18 years old my mom took me to the National Library of Cuba and got me a job as a typewriter. After I became a librarian.
